Babatunde Obaniyi
Babatunde Obaniyi currently oversees transaction origination, structuring, arranging and execution covering the spectrum of debt and equity capital needs of corporate and government entities. He has over 13 years multi-faceted finance experience cutting across deal structuring, capital raising, M&A, corporate finance and risk management.
Prior to joining United Capital, Babatunde Obaniyi worked at Zenith Capital and Afrinvest where he worked on several landmark transactions.
He possesses extensive cognate experience in fixed income and equity capital markets; as such has played a pivotal role in originating and executing several notable landmark transactions in the Capital Market space in Nigeria raising in excess of $2bn in fresh capital for various corporate institutions and Government entities both sovereign and sub-sovereign. He led the biggest corporate bond issuance in the Nigerian Market in 2014 (c. US$200m), maiden hospitality sector bond issuance in Nigeria 2015 (US$100m); and the first Oil & Gas downstream bond issuance (US$30m) in Nigeria in 2016 and recently advised a Tier-1 Nigerian bank on US$500m Eurobond issue and the FGN Diaspora Bond (US$300m) in 2017.
Babatunde has Master’s degree in International Securities, Investment and Banking from ICMA Centre, Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK and B.Sc. Economics (Hons.) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. He is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI), UK; Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (“ACCA”) and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (“ACS”). He also holds the International Fixed Income and Derivatives (“IFID”) Certificate.”
