Bakary Fatty is a final year law student at the University of The Gambia(Africa) and has over seven years of experience in youth work. Bakary Fatty has worked with many youth-led organizations in the area of civic education. Currently, Bakary is serving as the Administrative Secretary of the National Youth Parliament of The Gambia. As a youth-led organization that promotes civic education, Bakary has actively participated in its voter education campaigns, elections observations, National Assembly sitting observations, and civic engagement hour radio programs. Occasionally, Bakary writes on political and legal issues in Standard Newspaper as a columnist. He regularly appears on radio talk shows to discuss politics and law. Presently, he anchors a TV program called “The Peoples’ Platform”, where he interviews politicians, activists, and community leaders with a focus on policies and laws. This goes simultaneously with his new radio program call “The Weekly Politics Show” on Capital FM radio. He was one of the people who organized the first ever Presidential debate in the history of his country. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Bakary plans to continue his civic education program on national TV and radios.
