Baudouine Burhegeya Borah
Borah Burhegeya Baudouine has nine years’ experience as a security professional in the safety and security section of the United Nations mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. For three years, she worked as a provincial coordinator and representative of MONUSCO Congolese National Staff Union (NSU) in Goma. She holds a master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Goma. Currently, Baudouine Burhegeya Borahthe chair of Team NYAMPINGA, a women’s investment group whose objective is to provide mentorship to women and children who are otherwise overlooked in some African cultures. Under her leadership, the group holds workshops and seminars with youth during which they address issues raised by participants. She also led the group in community clean-up activities, which highlighted the importance environmental conservation. Her goal is to change poverty-stricken neighborhoods into communities with job opportunities for all. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she will apply her newly gained leadership abilities to create meaningful projects.
