Benjamin Freeman Jr

Benjamin Freeman Jr has four years of experience designing and implementing school based programs aimed at reducing the performance gap between top and under-performing students across Liberia. He serves as the Executive Director of the Liberia Institute for the Promotion of Academic Excellence, an NGO that applies a data driven approach to ensuring access to quality education for all in Liberia. Benjamin holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Stella Maris Polytechnic and a certificate in Monitoring Evaluation from the St. Clement University in Liberia(Africa). Upon completion of the Washington Fellowship, Benjamin plans to build a model school in Liberia run entirely by trained Liberian teachers and operated on a contextualized and proven American based curriculum. Through the creation of a public-private school partnership, Benjamin hopes to adopt more public schools and trained public teachers to reduce the divergence gap and increase access to quality education. Benjamin Freeman Jr was one of 100 Fellows competitively selected to participate in an 8-week internship in the United States following the Mandela Washington Fellowship academic institute. He interned at the Education Delivery Institute in August-September 2014.
