Betel Mekbib Abayneh
Betel Mekbib Abayneh has more than nine years of experience in market and social research, and monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) areas. Currently, Betel is a MEAL professional working at Catholic Relief Services – Ethiopia, which works in food security, livelihood, health, agriculture and emergency programs in Ethiopia. Betel holds two master’s degrees, one in Social Psychology and the other in Educational Policy and Planning. Betel Mekbib Abayneh also holds first degrees in Psychology, Health Education, and Educational Planning and Management. Betel believes that change begins with oneself with simple ideas, and duplicates itself for the greater good of the larger community. She has proven herself by being positive and committed in what she does and is determined to contribute her knowledge, skill and time and in giving back to her community through mentoring young girls, helping housemaids with their schooling and tutoring, and participating in feeding programs for elders and school children. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Betel plans to start her own platform where she facilitates school material support opportunities and psycho-social training provision for in elementary school students in need.
