Bezawit Zerayacob Bekele
Bezawit Zerayacob Bekele is an architect and researcher. Currently, Bezawit is a junior architect at the Extudio 35 Architectural consultancy and a researcher studying vernacular architecture and sustainable building techniques of selected regions in Ethiopia. Bezawit focuses on introducing environmentally sustainable building practices in Ethiopia. She also actively participates in her community by volunteering for neighborhood cleanups and gardening to create a clean and safe living environment. Bezawit Zerayacob Bekele is dedicated to studying eco-friendly building materials and construction methods that have native origins and can be used to construct safe and affordable housing, especially in the slum upgrading of poverty-stricken urban areas. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she intends to continue working towards a sustainable architecture that fosters energy efficiency, restoration, resource efficiency, and recycling. She hopes to become a professor in the near future as well.
