Boaz Ojwang Onyango
Onyango Ojwang has over five years of experience in environmental management and community development, focusing on environmental advocacy and governance, sustainable development, and energy management. Currently, Onyango is the Energy and Environmental Management Associate for Unisource Energy Kenya Ltd., where he focuses on coordinating capacity building, project development, and community mobilization on green energy and environmental management. Boaz Ojwang Onyango holds a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Pan African University Institute of Life and Earth Sciences, University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where he focused on water quality management. Moved by his dedication to strengthening a community’s ability and potential to respond to problems and needs in the society, he chairs Green Umbrella Development Organization, a community-based organization focusing on capacity development, environmental education, and asset building programs targeting primary schools and community groups in Kenya. One day, he hopes to experience stronger communities with a commitment to controling and using resources to promote sustainability and help improve the quality of life. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Onyango plans to continue his work in empowering communities on environmental management with special focus on advocacy, governance, energy and water management for food security, and sustained environmental citizenry.
