Bonga Mokoena

Qualifications:B. Comm (Wits), Hons B. Compt/CTA (Unisa), Masters in Business Leadership (Unisa SBL), qualified CA (SA). Member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, Institute of Directors and Black Management Forum.

Mr Bonga Mokoena joined Alexander Forbes Financial Services (AFFS) in December 2009 as the Head: Institutional Cluster which included Alexander Forbes’ Retirement Funds Administration Services, Trust and Beneficiary Funds Services, Employee Benefits Consultants and Actuaries, Umbrella Funds Services and Asset Consultants.

He was promoted to Managing Executive of the combined Actuarial & Consulting Solutions and Public Sector Divisions in April 2012, and served as the member of the Executive Committee of Alexander Forbes Financial Services Holdings (Pty) Ltd. From April 2017, Mr Mokoena was appointed Managing Executive: Group Public Sector Division with the mandate to develop and implement the public sector business growth strategy across the Institutional, Retail, AF Investments and Emerging Markets business clusters as part of the broader initiatives in pursuance of Vision 2022.

Prior to joining Alexander Forbes Financial Services, Mr Mokoena was once the Chief Executive and Principal Officer of Eskom Pension and Provident Fund and also held senior management and executive positions at Nedbank, Transnet and Old Mutual South Africa. Mr Mokoena has also served as current and past member of the board of trustees of several retirement funds and was once an advisory committee member of the SARS Advisory Panel from March 2015 to end of February 2016.
