Catherine Salina Asego
Catherine Asego has three years’ experience in community development, civic education, and policy engagement. She is currently the campaigns officer at Elimu Yetu Coalition, Kenya’s national coalition of CSOs working towards the Education for All goals. An ardent crusader for the education cause, Catherine designs and implements projects championing the right to free and quality basic education for all. Growing up in Kibra, an informal settlement in Nairobi, Catherine volunteers in a youth group which uses theatre and arts to sensitize communities on gender violence, HIV/AIDS, and children’s rights. Catherine Salina Asego holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Daystar University, Kenya and is currently undertaking her Master’s degree in Project Planning and Management at the University of Nairobi. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she plans to continue her advocacy work on the rights to quality basic education for all, with a special focus on girls and marginalized groups.
