Celest Schoeman
Celest Schoeman, (28) who hails Strandfontein in the Western Cape, has been a professional singer since she was 16. She regularly participated in karaoke competitions, concerts and other events while growing up. At the age of 13 that her singing went to the next level. She began performing at gigs arranged by her dad and by the age of 14, she had started winning singing competitions.
At 17, Celest Schoeman won a competition at the Artscape Opera House called Die Huisgenoot Tiener Talent Kompetisie. As part of her prize, she got to perform at Die Kaapse Jol where she performed alongside Loyiso Bala, Bobby Van Jaarsveld, Brandon October and Nia Nel, just to name a few of the many great artists who were on the bill.
Celest is currently a full time musician who has spent much of her time doing tribute shows around Cape Town, but has come to The Voice South Africa because she believes that it’s time for people to be introduced to the real Celest. The coaches clearly agreed with this sentiment, as Celest’s performance of Adele’s “When We Were Young” bagged her a full house of four turns! While all of the coaches pitched in a bid to get Celest onto their teams, it was Karen Zoid who bagged this powerhouse vocalist.
