Cici
Cici is of the legendary 999 Music’s specialities has been to be able to bring forth exciting, enchanting and performance driven female artists into the industry. Their latest singing sensation Cici is a prime example. She was discovered by Arthur after she auditioned for the SAADA Workshops which took part countrywide. She became the overall winner at the Young Artist Gala Night which took place late last year.
999 Music did not hesitate to offer her a recording contract. Her hit single “Runaway” has been topping the charts on several radio and television stations. Her vocal ability is top class as she also dabbled in theatre and cabaret singing.
Born Busisiwe Edith Thwala in Ladysmith Kzn, South Africa, her musical abilities were realised earlier as she became a focal point of her household by entertaining them to a point where her father nicknamed her “My radio”. She could not have met a better mentor and talent scout than Arthur Mafokate who has now catapulted her into superstar status within only six months.
Cici started showing a huge potential by winning the SABC top 10 summer songs Award on the 27th February 2016. History books were rewritten when the masses saw Cici scooping the Metro Music Awards Best styled & Best R & B single. An album she was featured on named Summer Ya di Summa won the best compilation. So in the last 6 months Cici has done what no other female artist has achieved.
These achievements have created so much demand for CiCi. Her performance was applauded by the industry when she appeared live on SABC 1’s Live Amp music show. She’s busy doing interviews on a lot of major radio stations countrywide. Her music video for the hit single “Runaway” is enjoying high rotation on Channel O, Vuzu, Craze, and Mtv Base. She has also performed on the CAN DO! Refresh ans Summer Tours with top musicians in places like Daveyton Sinaba Stadium, Wemmer Pan, Gugulethu, Ukhozi fm’s Ob in Ladysmith and Ixopo and was also booked by City of Joburg’s 31st December at Mary Fitzgerald Square which was beamed live on SABC 1. She was seen by about 15 million people on television that day alone. She has been booked at Maun Botswana on the 25th March and on the 26th & 27thJune she is going to Manchester in United Kingdom.
All this bears credence to is the development organisation formed by Arthur named SAADA (South African Artist Development Association). Had it not been for the National Lottery Council’s financial support the country could have not experienced the exceptional talent that is Cici. This really shows the importance of the development of young artists. 999 Music is excited that they are shooting 2 videos coupled with a countrywide tour of her full album. One of Cici’s aims is to crack the overseas markets. Watch out for Cici a definition of a real vocal powerhouse.
