Clayson Monyela

Mr. Clayson Monyela is the Deputy Director-General: Public Diplomacy in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

Monyela is a seasoned result-driven professional with over 20 years’ experience in communication, public relations, marketing, event management, advertising, brand management, business development, and stakeholder management in both public and private sectors.He is a strategic thinker able to lead at a senior level in addition to strong operational and delivery skills as well as a seasoned Diplomat with a solid international network of contacts in various sectors and fields.

His career highlights include being rated by the Sunday Times as the Best South African Government Spokesperson of the year (2016), being appointed by the President of the Republic to serve as a Trustee on the Board of Government’s International Marketing Agency, Brand South Africa and winning over 10 Service Excellence Awards including for the Best Innovation in the use of technology to deliver services.
