Clive Mtshisa
Former college principal Mr Clive Mtshisa has been acting deputy director-general since 2012. He holds an Honours degree in labour relations and labour law, together with a BA degree and a senior secondary teaching certificate. Mr Mtshisa started his career as an educator, with leadership roles including chief education specialist in the Gauteng Education Department. He also served as the provincial deputy chairperson of the South African Democratic Teachers Union in Gauteng, as a director of labour relations, and as principal of the Ekurhuleni West College.
Mr Mtshisa launched the Benoni Teachers’ Union and served as the chief negotiator and head of labour relations in the Department of Public Service and Administration. Other leadership roles include serving as the deputy chairperson of the Community Development Forum and the deputy chairperson of the Greater Benoni Development Forum. He participated in a community programme aimed at establishing new schools to accommodate young soldiers returning from exile in the early 1990s, and increased collaboration between communities with the establishment of the Greater Benoni Schools Sport Congress which promoted non-racial sport.
