David Msiza
David Msiza was appointed chief inspector of mines since 2011. He holds a BSc. Mining Engineering degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He joined the Department of Minerals and Energy in 1998 as an inspector responsible for conducting safety audits and inspections.
In 2000 David Msiza became a senior inspector and in 2007 became deputy chief inspector of mines, a position he held for three years. In that role he was responsible for supporting the Minister of Mineral Resources in achieving the department’s strategic objectives.
As chief inspector of mines, David’s duties entail, among other things, acting as accounting officer of the Mine Health and Safety Council.
