Deep Fried Man
Deep Fried Man (real name Daniel Friedman) is a musical comedian, writer and satirist with his own quirky, unique style of performance. He has performed at many of South Africa’s biggest comedy events (Blacks Only, Bafunny Bafunny, Kings and Queens of Comedy), won multiple awards (Comics Choice Award, Standard Bank Ovation Award), appeared in a host of TV shows and films (Material, ZANews, Comedy Central Presents Divine) and was a permanent cast member on multiple Emmy-nominated satirical news show Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola for seven seasons.
Since the beginning of his comedy career Deep Fried Man has also performed three successful one-man shows and released a DVD and a CD. He is currently involved with making original content for new YouTube channel MalContent, whose first video, a parody of Eminem’s Stan about Trevor Noah is currently making its way around the internet.
Other highlights of his career include his video an Idiot’s Guide to the South African Anthem with Gareth Woods accidentally getting Helen Zille trending worldwide with the #askhelenzille hashtag and getting politicians such as Julius Malema, Mmusi Maimane and Zwelenzima Vavi laughing along to his satirical songs at Daily Maverick’s The Gathering. He also once sang Ice, Ice, Baby to Vanilla Ice himself. The proof is on YouTube.
Deep Fried Man can also develop customized musical comedy for corporate functions, campaigns and activations, with recent highlights including campaigns for ABSA, BrightRock and Me&You Mobile.
