Desyrani Rampertab
Desyrani Rampertab has over five years of experience working in project management, leadership empowerment, good governance, and disability. Desyrani Rampertab is a qualified physiotherapist working in the largest public hospital in Mauritius, where she offers patients the gift of mobility and enabling their integration back to the society. In 2017, she was elected president of the Association of Physiotherapists in Mauritius and has since then engaged in policy reform for physiotherapists in Mauritius, including the creation of a law for the regulation of healthcare professionals. She is also a lecturer at the Mauritius Institute of Health, where she delivers training to health care professionals in Physiotherapy. Desyrani believes critical thinking and innovation are key to development in Mauritius and Africa. She is currently advocating for the promotion and improvement of principles of good governance in the public, private and civil sectors through a project sponsored by the US Embassy in Mauritius. She is also involved with a group of changemakers who are implementing the social change model in Mauritius. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Desyrani wishes to create and implement more health care policies to improve the healthcare system in Mauritius.
