DJ Capital

The now Club 808 (eTV) co-host and CliffCentral radio host started his entertainment journey as a rapper under Chaka Chaka Music. Capital C.Y.A always had the drive and passion for anything he took part in. The “C.Y.A” to represent his birth name, Siya, and the “Capital” to represent dominance and presence, such as: a capital city, a capital letter and the like. The name Capital stuck and became popular amongst his peers. DJ Capital previously ran ‘Code Red Productionz’, an events company. In his desire to reduce event expenses, he began to play some of his own pre-recorded mixes at his events. As predicted, not only were the events’ expenses substantially reduced but the response from the crowd was surprisingly impressive. This began Capital’s love for DJing. Capital was given the opportunity to be a resident mix-show DJ on South Africa’s second biggest radio station, Umhlobo Wenene FM, between April 2011 – April 2012. This platform aired Capital’s mixes every Saturday between 21:40 and 22:00 for a year. Capital has since headlined at least one town in all 9 of South Africa’s provinces. DJ Capital then joined The Reps, South Africa’s, then, most successful urban dance group as their official DJ. The Reps went on to have a popular show on South African youth channel Vuzu – Running with the Reps. DJ Capital was a cast member of the TV show as of the beginning of the 2nd season (February 2012). This further expanded Capital’s nationwide appeal.

On a more corporate level, DJ Capital has been affiliated with business mogul and billionaire, Robert Gumede of Gijima Technologies. Capital regularly entertained Mr. Gumede’s guests at the MTN Gauteng Lions’ home fixtures, in a private suite, when Mr. Gumede still owned the team. DJ Capital also plays at Mr. Gumede’s Annual Gijima Golf Family Weekend in Nelspruit. He has also played at government events for different departments.The three time SA Hip Hop Award nominee has held his own on the same stage as some of the South Africa and the world’s finest acts. The list of international acts include the 2 of the top 10 DJs in the world, Deadmau5 & AfroJack, multi-platinum selling R&B legend, Usher, DJ Drama & Eminem’s former DJ, DJ Green Lantern. In July 2015, Capital embarked on a European tour, which saw him headlining shows in London & Moscow.

DJ Capital is currently host of The Capital Rap Up on Cliff Central and has also joined popular music show Club 808 as the resident DJ and host of their newest segment – The 808 Challenge.
