Dr Anna Mokgokong
Dr Anna Mokgokong is a co-founder and Executive Chairperson of Community Investment Holdings Proprietary Limited. She is a well renowned business figure in South Africa and globally, and has extensive experience in healthcare, academia and commerce.
She is recognised as a Senior Director of Companies on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, as she serves on the boards of five listed companies:
- AfroCentric Investment Corporation Limited (Non-executive Chairperson)
- Rebosis Property Fund Limited (Non-executive Chairperson)
- Jasco Electronics Holdings Limited (Non-executive Chairperson)
- Shoprite Holdings Limited (Non-executive Director and first female Director)
- Adcock Ingram Holdings Limited (Non-executive Director)
She also serves on the boards of a number of unlisted entities. She has received numerous local and international accolades as a community and business leader, including SA Businesswoman of the Year (1999) and one of the Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World (1998).
She has served on numerous councils of academic institutions and civil society commissions, such as the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers, where she was appointed as Deputy Chairperson (from 2004 to 2009) by former President Mr Thabo Mbeki. She was also a Commissioner of the Interim National Defence Force Commission (“SANDF”) (from 2009 to 2013). She is a social activist, and is passionate about promoting female empowerment and transformation to bring about equality South Africa’s economy. She was recently appointed Honorary Consul-General of Iceland in Pretoria (2017).
