Henning’s regular motivational and Team Building sessions with Top Companies feature his highly-popular presentation  have proved to be a real winner with any team which needs to continue to strive for increasing levels of achievement.

It covers his tenure in the 4 year build-up to the 2007 world cup and the inside story of what took the failed Springboks of 2003 to the World Champs just 4 years later.

His presentation covers:

‘ How do you move the goal from a dream into each player’s sub-conscious’
‘ How do you build a family ‘ there can be NO common dream of goal if there is NO family unit !

For the 2007 world cup, Jake White was the first Springbok coach to employ a full time Sports Psychologist for the Springboks in the form of Dr Henning Gericke.  He said: ‘Having known, worked with, and learnt from Henning in the last few years, I have seldom met anyone who has finer instincts around team dynamics, a critical component when moulding distinctly provincial players into a new national team.’

Henning’s Experience and Achievements include 17 years of private practice and counselling sport and business teams.
Rugby Teams with which he was involved included:

  • the Puma Rugby Team 1999 ‘ 2003;
  • Bulls Rugby Team 2001 Super 12;
  • Sharks Rugby Team Finalists 2007 Super 14;
  • Springbok Rugby Team 2004 ‘ 2007
  • 2004:  Tri Nations Winners;  Team of the Year; International Rugby Board Team of the Year.
  • 2007:  Rugby World Cup Champions ‘Player, Coach and Team of the Year.
  • 2008: Currie Cup Winners- Sharks
  • 2009:  Sport Psychologist with Bafana Soccer team when  they qualified for the semi final Confederation Cup
  • 2010: Working with Bafana players at training camps in preparation for World Cup
  • Sport Psychologist with the Protea cricket team, winning the ODI series against Pakistan in Dubai
  • 2011: Sport Psychologist with the Protea team winning the ODI series against India in South-Africa

Henning says: “It was great helping the Boks, Bafana and the Sharks to realise their aspirations and dreams, but it was just as satisfying being there during tough times for teams like the Bulls and Proteas. All these experiences provide powerful insights and learning that I would like to share with business teams in taking them to the next level. That’s what a champion mindset is all about”.

Henning’s Personal Career in Sport:

  • Africa record holder 4x1500m relay;
  • Junior Springbok colours in Athletics; 7x S.A.
  • Junior records; World record for 16-year old in the 1500 metres;
  • 10 Times sub 4-minute miles;
  • Craven Week Rugby Captain.
    Qualifications:  BA Psychology ‘ 1988;  BA Hons. Psychology cum Laude ‘ 1989; Masters Degree Clinical Psychology Cum Laude ‘ 1991; D. Phil Clinical Psychology ‘ 1996. All from the University of Pretoria
