Dr Wolsey Otto Barnard

Dr Wolsey Otto Barnard was appointed deputy di rector-general for Energy Programmes and Projects in June 2012. He holds a PhD from the University of Pretoria, and MSc (cum laude), BSc (Hons) (cum laude), and BSc (cum laude) degrees from the then University of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Prior to joining the Department of the Energy, Dr Wolsey Otto Barnard served as a chief director for the Integrated National El ectrification Programme at the Department of Energy, and as executive manager: Regulations and Restructuring at the National Energy Regulator.

His career has also included roles as a senior researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, as a senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria, and as director for electricity and gas supply at the Department of Minerals and Energy.
