Ecko Jay

Joshua Esseku Annan is Ecko Jay’s real name. He started doing music when he was really young. His mother was the first one to point it out that Ecko Jay had a passion for music. At 13years old he started to take his singing seriously, he committed himself to learning new songs by artists that he liked, he practiced a lot and sang a lot. He has brother who was a serious music artist even though he was underground. He followed him when he went for rehearsals and started backing him. When his brother realized how much Ecko Jay loved music he began teaching him some skills in music like timing, key, etc for about two years. The brother promised to record some songs with Ecko Jay, a promise that never materialized, because he left home; went away and settled elsewhere. currently in South Africa

Ecko Jay likes both rapping and singing. He listens to local and foreign artists like Obrafour, Lord Kenya, Reggy Rock Stone, Captain Planet, Akon, Chris brown, etc and lately to Kwaw Kese.

The music seed in Ecko Jay never died after his brother had left. He believed that he could do music on his own. He utilized the foundation that his brother had assisted him lay to further his music career. He started performing for the warm audience of family and friends, saved up his school lunch allowance to get his first demo recorded when he was about 16 years old. The song titled Baby was well received by his fans, which encouraged him to keep on keeping at it. By the time he was 17 he had recorded six demo tracks.

Ecko Jay’s advice for upcoming artist like him is that they should set a target in life and through persistence and determination they will succeed beyond measure.
