Edward Lephatsimile Johnson
Edward is a leader who has championed both dialogue and action in his specialty areas. Edward has honed his business skills as a commercial farmer in an arable farming enterprise and currently in corporate and investment banking. Edward runs a commercial farming enterprise which produces over 1,500 tons of grain annually and serves as the Secretary General of the second largest commercial farmers association in Botswana. Edward does not refer to himself as a young farmer for he believes transcendence knows no age. Edward has endeavored and succeeded at improving farming techniques by introducing climate smart agriculture methodologies on his farm and by championing dialogue in this industry with fellow commercial farmers. His other community engagements include financial literacy training for farmers, writing and lobbying for agriculture development, and serving as the vice-curator of the Global Shapers Community Gaborone Hub. Through his professional work and business endeavors, Edward’s life purpose points to sustainable farming in Botswana and a harmonious interaction between the financial markets and farming industries. His ultimate desire is to establish Botswana’s first commodities exchange as he works to develop the farming value chain and improve financial markets in Botswana and Southern Africa.
