Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng

Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng is an investment banker and lawyer with over twenty-two years corporate experience. He started his professional career as a Management Consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in 1999. 

Prior to his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income Investment Fund, Mr. Koranteng was the Regional Head of East, Central and Southern Africa for Ghana International Bank plc (GHIB) in the United Kingdom, stationed primarily in Nairobi, Kenya. He was also responsible for GHIB’s energy and mining portfolio.

Edward Koranteng during his tenure saw to the successful development of a funding structure for the Reserve Bank of Malawi to support Malawi’s dollar reserves. He also worked on secondary participations with Credit Suisse to provide budgetary support for the Government of Tanzania, development of a funding structure with Trade Development Bank Africa (TDB) to support the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia on essential commodities for the Government of Ethiopia, restructuring of a long-term facility with other DFIs, led by the European Investment Bank for the pan-African housing entity, Shelter Afrique, and facilitated medium-term financing for a number of banks in the region including the likes of HFC Bank Kenya.

Edward Koranteng is the co-founder of one of Ghana’s leading corporate law firms, Koranteng & Koranteng Legal Advisors.

Koranteng holds various certifications in finance, oil and gas, mining, marketing and management. He holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Ghana and studied law at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, where he also obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in international banking and finance. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in law from the BPP Law School in the UK with specialisation in corporate law and international trade law. He was called to the English and Welsh Bar at Lincoln’s Inn and subsequently to the Ghana Bar.
