Edwin S J Mathies Jr

Edwin S.J. Mathies Jr. has over six years of combined progressive experience in the banking and community development sectors, specifically focusing on risk management. Currently, Edwin works as a Risk Analyst at the Central Bank of Liberia where he assesses and analyzes risks across business units, and provides comprehensive reports that aids the Board of Governors in effective decision making relative to the strategic objectives of the Central Bank of Liberia. Edwin S J Mathies Jr is Liberia’s representative at the World Youth Alliance 2016, Executive Director of a nonprofit Educating Youth for Empowerment (EYE), and the developer and first coordinator of Liberia’s first Vacation Bridge Program at A.M.E. University, his alma mater. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration/Sociology from the African Methodist Episcopal University. Edwin is driven by his passion for education and he aspires to help raise the literacy rate of Liberia by 20 percent. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Edwin plans to use his newly acquired skills to develop a mentorship program in high schools within Montserrado County for aspiring leaders between 10 and 25 years, and collaborate with organizations that seek to address youth underdevelopment and unemployment.
