As Manger Innovation at Exxaro Resources, Elaine Hattingh enables and supports the sourcing and deployment of disruptive innovations into the business with the aim of solving business challenges and supporting Exxaro in achieving its strategy. Her goal is to guide the company on a journey of purpose driven innovation to maximise value for all stakeholders.

She has a B.Sc Hons in Geology and M.Sc Eng in Mining Engineering. She has deep rooted experience within the geomodelling space and has spent time within multiple mining operations in her career. Her roles duringthis time included developing scientific, data-driven solutions to technical challenges, optimising the business through implementing pioneering management principals in order to improve efficiency and productivity. She also supported the development of renewable energy projects with the purpose of decarbonising the mining operations.

In addition to her mining related experience, she has experience in the corporate venturing space where she evaluated businesses’ performance to establish viability leading to potential investments within the agricultural, energy and water sectors.

She is a mother, entrepreneur, owner of a SME and avid supporter of women’s physical and mental health.
