Elina Mwasinga
Elina Mwasinga has four years’ experience working with people living with HIV. Currently, Elina is a program assistant volunteer at the Coalition of Women Living with HIV/AIDS in Malawi, which ensures that the rights of women living with HIV are protected. She supports the oversight, coordination, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), economic empowerment, and gender-based violence projects. She also counsels and mentors infected individuals at the Lighthouse Trust Center, an organization leading the national response to HIV in Malawi. Elina was recently selected to lead a team of youth on SRHR by the International Youth Alliance for Family Planning as a country coordinator. She is a founder of Chino Arts, a craft business. Chino Arts partners with the Female Entrepreneurs Network to economically empower women and girls thereby reducing child marriages, teen pregnancies, and school dropouts. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education from the University of Malawi’s Bunda College of Agriculture. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Elina aims to use her acquired skills and knowledge to enhance HIV treatment adherence and create social change through art.
