Elizabeth Gakii Ntonjira (Lizz)
Elizabeth Gakii Ntonjira (Lizz) is a policy facilitation and learning specialist for East and Southern Africa with Africa Lead 11, USAIDs primary capacity building program in Sub-Saharan Africa which works to help realize the Feed the Future (FTF) and Africa Union’s Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development programs’ goals of reducing hunger and poverty. She has ten years’ experience in private and public sector roles mainly in media outreach, investor and stakeholder relations, project management, and policy facilitation. She is also a strong advocate for women empowerment and runs a mentorship program for young girls (MentorMe). Elizabeth Gakii Ntonjira (Lizz) feels strongly that economic empowerment of women leads to prosperity for families and communities and upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, plans to continue her work in mentorship and policy facilitation, with a focus on developing long-term strategic activities to strengthen African decision-makers to become key drivers of increased agricultural productivity and food security.
