Etienne Shardlow
Etienne began his stand up comedy career at an open mic night at the Waterfront Arms at the Randburg waterfront in 2001. 3 weeks later the venue closed down and the Randburg Waterfront underwent a rebranding exercise. Etienne denies any responsibility.
Etienne Shardlow – South African stand up comedian famous for his portrayal of an 11 year old schoolboy with a warped view of the adult world around him. Dry, subtly sarcastic, clean, a fair amount of word play.
Etienne’s schoolboy offers a unique character – a much loved and talked about School Boy. (timid, tall and skinny looking at the world in a brand new way). After 4 years of developing his act, its very entertaining and certainly something different.
His character goes well with a varied audiences and can be used for corporate or larger private functions.
Etienne Shardlow’s routine can be adapted well for product launches by using the company or the product’s name in his actual show.
Etienne won 1st place in “survival of the funniest” on Mnet’s Laugh Out Loud.
Etienne also does a regular stand up comedy routine to add some variety to his performances.
2008 saw ETIENNE SHARDLOW launch his one man show featuring both his schoolboy character and his straight stand up routines. The show was released on DVD late in the year.
