Farhan Esat
Farhan Esat made his stand-up comedy debut in 2012, professionally in 2014, and has become a regular performer on the South African comedy circuit. He has performed at prestigious venues such as Parker’s Comedy & Jive, Emperor’s Palace, Pretoria State Theatre, Armchair Theatre, Cape Town Comedy Club, Whackhead’s Comedy Club & the Goliath Comedy Club.
Some of his career highlights to date include:
- Opening act for Carl Joshua Ncube’s “Feel Good Zimbabwe” tour (2014)
- Semi-finalist in the Montreux (Swiss) International Comedy Competition (2014 & 2015)
- Opening act for Riaad Moosa’s “Best of” shows in Lenasia (2015)
- Nominated by his peers as “Best Newcomer of the Year” at the South Africa Comics Choice Awards (2015 & 2016)
- Performed with Anne Kansiime to 4000 people at a sold-out Harare International Convention Centre (2016)
- Featured on some of South Africa’s biggest ensemble comedy shows including Kings & Queens of Comedy (3000 people at a sold-out Sandton Convention Centre) (2016)
- Opening act for Riaad Moosa’s new “Life Begins” show (2017)
- Performed at the Clarens Comedy Festival (in partnership with Comedy Central) (2017)
- Headlined the “Just for Laughs” stage at the inaugural Swaziland International Comedy Festival (2017)
- Filmed live for Mzansi Magic’s “Mzansi Comedy Nights” (DSTV channel 161) (2018)
Farhan has served as programme director/Master of Ceremonies (MC), auctioneer & performed stand-up comedy at private events (such as birthday parties & weddings), as well as for a wide range of organisations
