Francois Beukman

Francois Beukman was appointed to his current position in August 2009. He is a qualified attorney and conveyancer who holds a BA degree in Political Science and Public Administration, a BA (Hons), and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Stellenbosch. He also holds BProc and LLB law degrees from the University of South Africa. Prior to his appointment at the Independent Pol ice Inves t igat ive Di rec torate, Mr Beukman served for 10 years as a Member of Parliament. Between 2002 and 2005 he served as chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) in the National Assembly. He also served on the following Parliamentary committees: Constitutional Review Committee; Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs; Portfolio Committee on Foreign Affairs; Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry; and Portfolio Committee on Provincial and Local Government.

Mr Beukman has held leadership positions in various civil society and political organisations during the past 15 years. He is a solicitor of the High Court of England and Wales.
