Frank Chikane

Reverend Frank Chikane is one of the founding members of Kagiso Trust and is currently its Chairperson. He is also Chairperson of the Kagiso Capital board and a member of the board of Sci-Bono Discovery Centre and the Kagiso Shanduka Foundation Trust Advisory Committee. He is currently the Moderator of the Churches Commission on International Affairs (CCIA) of the World Council of Churches (WCC), a Senior Vice-President of the SACC, pastor of the AFM of SA, and President of the AFM International.

He is a former General Secretary of the SACC; a former Commissioner of the first Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) which was responsible for the first democratic elections in 1994; a former Director-General in the Office of the Deputy President and later the Presidency and Secretary of Cabinet; a former board member of City Power Johannesburg, Thebe Investments, and the Development Bank of Southern Africa; a former member of the Councils of the University of the North (now Limpopo) and the University of the Witwatersrand.

He became involved in the Black Consciousness Movement as a student and later helped launch the UDF where he served as a Vice President. After the unbanning of the ANC he became a member of its National Executive Committee (NEC). He holds MA degrees in Religious Studies and in Public Administration.
