Fundisile Mketeni
Fundisile Mketeni is the deputy director-general: Biodiversity and Conservation, a position he has held since April 2004. He has a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the University of the Free State, together with a national diploma and a national higher diploma in nature conservation.
Mr Mketeni was chief operating officer at South African National Parks after serving as general manager: Operations from 2001 to 2002. Other leadership positions include those of park manager from 1996 to 2001, and seven years as acting regional manager at the Conservation and Tourism Board (now Eastern Cape Parks). He went on to serve as assistant manager for Double Drift Game Reserve. Mr Mketeni has also served as a member at the Isimangaliso Wetland Park Authority and the National Lotteries Board’s Heritage and Environment Distribution Agency.
He is a board member of both the South African National Biodiversity Institute and South African National Parks.
