GARETH JAMES

Gareth James is a network and security specialist at VMware. In this role, he is directly responsible for accelerating the adoption of VMware’s Network & Security solutions in the sub-Saharan African region, a strategic initiative for VMware.

With over 20 years’ experience in the IT industry, James brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to VMware. He has a broad IT background with a specialisation in virtualisation. His core focus is currently on network virtualisation and security. James works with clients to help gauge and implement the technology’s positive business impact.

He began his IT career in London, where he worked for 10 years before returning to South Africa. He is a regular contributor to IT publications and has had numerous articles published, culminating in the publication of a book concerning VDI by Syngress – Elsevier. James is an active contributor on social media and a group owner of SA’s largest IT-related LinkedIn group, ‘Virtualization and Cloud Computing in South Africa’.

James is an electronic engineering graduate from the University of Natal, and has attained a broad array of IT certifications covering security, networking, platforms and virtualisation.
