Gavin Edwards continued to write songs and perform with Franklin in top venues across Ireland, such as Oxegen, Michelstown and O2 in The Park to over 120 000 people .A huge coup for Gavin and the boys was the opportunity to support Incubus in The Point Depot.
Gavin left Franklin in October 2007 to purse a new solo project. Gavin decided to hit the road running and start writing the songs for the upcoming debut album. The past years have taken Gavin all over the world from Dublin to London , New York ,Nashville and L.A and finally down under to Australia.
Gavin Edwards had the great privilege to write alongside some of the biggest names in the industry from Billy Mann (Pink!), David Schuler (Pink!) , Phil Thornalle (Natalie Imbruglia) just to name a few, and had 2 co-writes , ‘Here In My Arms” and “Mirrors” with David Schuler for his band The Sunstreaks.
Gavin Edwards is an accomplished, professional singer/songwriter from South Africa. Gavin moved over to Ireland with his band (Franklin) in 2002 by request of ex- Westlife star, Brian McFadden, who saw them perform in a holiday resort while on honeymoon in South Africa. Brian was so impressed with what he saw, that he immediately signed them to his own management and record label in Ireland, which resulted in an Irish Top 20 hit for Gavin and the band in 2004.
Before Franklin, Gavin was frontman for the band Allegory, who had a massive following at popular nightclubs, Roxy Rhythm Bar and Trader Horns in the late nineties and early 2000s.
Gavin has also had the great privilege to play live sessions for Brian Mcfadden on numerous occasions including Australia’s Got Talent and Sunrise in Australia, as well as for Enrique Iglesias for the Child Line concert in Dublin .
Gavin released a single in 2011 through Village Roadshow in Australia which was featured on Dancing With The Stars and got to No 88 on the Australian iTunes Chart.
Gavin entered the first season of X-Factor in South Africa in 2014 and made it to Top 7 of the show but got his biggest break when he decided to enter The Voice. His touching story, his talent and his passion earned him the title of runner-up on the show. Now, having signed a lucrative deal with Universal Music South Africa, Gavin is in studio recording his next record and looks forward to reaching the masses with his original music as well as personal, familiar favourites.
