Ginette Michela Ramitomboson
Ginette Michela Ramitomboson is the Founder and Designer of My Mitoo, a fashion brand that preserves and reflects the Malagasy culture and heritage. After high school, Michela came from hometown of Mahanoro on the east coast to the capital, Antananarivo, to study urban architecture. Ginette Michela Ramitomboson made a turning point in her career at the age of 27 to become a fashion designer, embracing her skill and passion for art and design. Her brand is influenced by and emphasizes the Malagasy way of life and its traditions. She works with local weavers and other artisans to bolster the spirit of Madagascar in her products. With her team of 4 female employees, she built her brand and workshop from scratch and is now a burgeoning force in Antananarivo. Self-taught, she is planning on opening a training center to help disadvantaged women like herself obtain a brighter future by increasing their skills to a higher quality of handicraft. By attending the Mandela Washington Fellowship(Africa), she hopes to improve her way of leading and motivation and find leaders that share her vision for grassroots businesses. Michela continues to raise her two younger siblings and provide for her mother’s health care. She loves team sports such as ultimate frisbee and soccer, which she plays every week with both a co-ed team and a women’s team. Michela speaks Malagasy and most of its dialects, she is also fluent in English and French and is currently learning German.
