Grant Holds a BSc in Geology and Geography & Environmental Management and a Masters in Environmental Management. He has over 19 years of experience in Environmental and Social aspects within the mining Industry and has been extensively involved in the management and compilation of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) as well as with the compilation of Environmental Management Plans (EMP) primarily in the resources sector across Africa.

He has experience in conducting Due Diligence investigations, Closure Planning and Cost Assessments, ESIA compilation and EMP compliance auditing throughout Africa, South America and North America. This has included work in Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Zimbabwe, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique, Mali, Ghana, Tanzania, Senegal, South Africa, Pakistan, USA, Canada, Peru, Argentina and Dominican Republic. The projects he has worked on have covered various minerals, including gold, silver, copper, cobalt, nickel, rare earth minerals and coal. He also has experience in the Oil and Gas sector.

Grant was also a member of the Tailings Sub-Group within the International Council of Mining and Metals (ICMM), which engaged with the Panel of Experts compiling the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM). He is also a member of the Principal Liaisons Committee at the ICMM and a member of the ESG Task Force within the World Gold Council (WGC). 

Prior to Joining Barrick, he was a Director of an International Sustainability Consulting business and from 2014 was contracted to Randgold Resources to oversee all sustainability related aspects for the group and provided sustainability oversight as a member of the Environmental and Social Committee.
