Haile Guesh Kidane
Haile Guesh Kidane has nine years of experience in teaching, research, and community service at the university level in Ethiopia. Currently, Haile is a senior lecturer and the editor-in-chief of the Bahir Dar University Journal of Law, which advanced legal scholarship by promoting research and publication. Haile also works at the university’s Free Legal Aid Center, providing free legal advice and representation services to indigent and vulnerable members of the community before courts of law. Additionally, he is also the founder and director of the Bikeable Bahir Dar Environmental Club, which is a unique initiative established to combat air pollution and safeguard the health of residents in Bahir Dar City. The club is trying to revive biking culture in the city. Haile Guesh Kidane is driven by his commitment to human rights, social justice, and environmental protection. Upon the completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Haile aspires to continue providing free legal aid service, participating in environmental protection programs, and volunteering.1. Nouhoum Akondo has over five years’ experience as a program administrator at Pathways Togo, a nonprofit organization providing scholarships for intelligent underprivileged young women to attend middle school through university. He is passionate about contributing to the development of his nation. Previously, he worked for Peace Corps Togo, where he learned how women can contribute to the welfare of the society. In 2011, he graduated with a degree in English Linguistics and learned how to use language to promote peace and security and positively impact his environment. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Nouhoum aims to strengthen his commitment to women’s empowerment through vocational education and life skills training.
