Hemuna Bhola

Acting Executive Head for HR Exxaro Resources

Hemuna Bhola has a passion for people development and lives out this passion by providing career coaching and mentoring to support individuals develop to their fullest potential. Hemuna started her career in 1996 as a junior lecturer at the university of Durban-Westville and Zululand (Umlazi Campus). Her passion for people was ignited at the undergraduate level, when studying Industrial Psychology, where she learnt about people in the workplace and how people’s behaviours, personality traits and actions affect and impact their career progression.

Hemuna graduated with Masters in 2000 and completed her professional registration as an Industrial Psychologist in 2001. She was fortunate to join Exxaro Resources in 2002 to head up the Management and Functional training division. After spending five (5) years at Exxaro’s flagship mine, Grootegeluk, she moved to Corporate Office to manage the development of Exxaro’s succession and leadership pipeline and the youth pipeline. In 2010 Hemuna successfully completed an MBA from the University of Pretoria (Gibs).

In 2012 Hemuna was appointed as the HR Manager, Commercial Region for Mpumalanga. In 2015, she was appointed as Group Manager Strategic workforce planning, and in 2017 she moved laterally into the Group Manager Talent Management position. Her career with Exxaro spans over 21 years. Hemuna is currently acting as Executive Head HR. Hemuna has acquired many skills and capabilities in the Mining Industry ranging from succession planning, leadership and management development, youth development, talent acquisition, HR operations management, strategic workforce planning, training & development, labor relations, and performance management. She also has gained exposure in corporate restructuring, mine divestments, and mine closures. She is very proud to be associated with the Exxaro Brand and feels privileged to work with Exxaro’s leadership.
