HHP
Jabulani Tsambo aka HHP was a popular Motswako rapper from Mafikeng widely credited for putting Setswana rap/ Motswako on the map. The first child of Robert Mandla and Theriso Louisa Tsambo, HHP was born in Mmabatho on the 14th September 1980. He started school at D.P Kgotleng Primary School and proceeded to Redibone Middle School in Mmabatho. He matriculated High School at St Albans College in Pretoria, South Africa where his interest was mostly in Music and Drama.
He formed part of a rap group called Verbal Assassins, who collaborated with the acclaimed producers such as Sello Chicco Twala. At tertiary level, he enrolled for a Diploma in Filming and Broadcasting at Allenby College. He then studied Communications and Media at RAU (now known as University of Johannesburg) and also studied Wits TV at the University of Witwatersrand.
He pursued his solo music career where he became known as Hip Hop Pantsula. He gifted the world with numerous hits and 10 studio albums that won him multiple awards such as MTV Africa Award, BET Award for Best International Act, and was recently awarded the SATMA Lifetime Achievement Award. He continu-ously reinvented himself, pushed musical boundries and simultaneously elevated Bokone Bophirima Province, particularly Mahikeng with his unique rap sound known as Motswako.
Through his illustrious music career, he made an impact throughout the African continent and the United States of America. He collaborated with countless artists both local and abroad and played an instrumental role in paving the way for many artists that have come and many that will follow. He loved and cherished the immense support he recieved from his fans which he dubbed as his (ancestors.
He is survived by his wife, parents, two sisters Ayanda and Zanele Tsambo, his son Leano Laone Sekete Khanye and nephew Oamogetswe Bogolo Tsambo.
