Hilda Mantebea Boye
Hilda Boye is a doctor specializing in paediatrics at the Child Health Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Her work involves providing inpatient and outpatient care for children with various illnesses, as well as supervising the doctors who work under her. Hilda saw that people had strong beliefs in myth and that negative cultural practices were leading to illness, disability, death, and stigmatization in her country. Over the last five years, Hilda has educated the public on various health conditions affecting children. She has also written articles for the print media, and granted radio and television interviews. Her emphasis is on the preventable causes of disability and death of children. Hilda Mantebea Boye hopes to network and hone her leadership skills during the Mandela Washington Fellowship. Upon her return, Hilda hopes to continue to work hard to increase health literacy and to improve the health of children in Ghana.
