Hon. Mohlomi Moleko
Minister of Natural Resources Kingdom of Lesotho
Honourable Mohlomi Moleko is the current Lesotho Minister of Natural Resources, which covers mining, water and energy sectors. In the previous dispensation, the three sectors were fully fledged independent ministries but were consolidated into one Ministry of Natural Resources, when the Government reduced the number of Ministries from 36 to 15.
He has been a practicing Chartered Accountant for almost 2 decades as Managing Partner at Moleko & Associates and later Senior Partner Moores Rowland (L), one of the largest audit firms in Lesotho. He is a commercially astute accountant and auditor with extensive experience in providing auditing, finance and accounting support services to companies and NGO’s in Lesotho and South Africa. He has serviced clients from small and medium enterprises to large companies. Utilizing his experience in finance and operational management, he has been pivotal in ensuring organizations and companies are equipped with the management tools necessary to achieve sales and growth plans.
He is highly competent in financial analysis, forecasting, pricing strategies, identifying new market opportunities and implementing internal controls to ensure corporate compliance whilst minimizing business risk. He has also served on various boards, committees and institutions most notable as President of the Rotary Club of Maseru, President of the Lesotho Institute of Accountants and board member of First National Bank Lesotho serving as Chairman of the Audit Committee and the Risk Capital and Compliance Committee.
He retired from auditing and consultancy in 2018 to pursue business interests full-time which included a wide portfolio spanning mining, medicinal cannabis, cement and real estate development. He had a keen interest and passion for the construction and mining industries thereby establishing Global Thrust (Pty) Ltd which was involved in numerous business ventures that cut across a broad spectrum of industries with its core assets being in construction, cement aggregation and mining.
His political career began in May 2022 leading to his appointment to a cabinet minister position in October 2022.
