Ilana de Klerk

I have over 20 years’ experience in the audit industry.  I completed my articles with KPMG, specialising in the manufacturing industry.  I then joined EY Financial Services in London where I spent 6 years and my experience gained there included large multinational Investment Banks, such as Investec, Morgan Stanley and Nomura.  During this time, I began specialising in audit technical matters and learning & development.  Thereafter, I returned to South Africa to head up the Audit Quality and Learning Division for EY Africa. I was part of the Technical team at Protect a Partner and W Consulting. My areas of expertise include International Standards on Auditing (ISA), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Financial Reporting Standards for Small and Medium-sized Entities (IFRS for SMEs), implementation of ISQC1 and training on ISCQ1, performing monitoring reviews and Engagement Quality reviews on listed and unlisted audits, assisting audit teams throughout the audit process in the form of an additional level of review and providing technical assistance.  I also perform pre-issuance reviews of audits of Local Municipalities, District Municipalities and Municipal entities, Provincial Departments and public entities, including reviewing of performance information.  My experience includes in-depth knowledge of MFMA and PFMA as well as GRAP.  I have a passion for forensic work and previously assisted the Hawks and the SIU on a number of Forensic Investigations.
