Imrana Alhaji Buba

Albert Muragijimana

Imrana Alhaji Buba has over six years’ experience in peace building and Countering Violent Extremism (CVE), specifically focusing on de-radicalization in northern Nigeria. Currently, Imrana is the Coordinator of the Youth Coalition Against Terrorism (YOCAT), where he focuses on initiating and implementing counter-radical peace education and skills acquisition programs to weaken the appeal of terrorism. He is also a Policy Specialist on CVE and DDR of the Global Alliance of Youths Countering Violent Extremism and Generation Change Fellow of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). Imrana holds a First-Class Degree in Political Science from the University of Maiduguri where he specialized on Democracy, Peace, and Development in Africa. Imrana’s vision is to promote a culture of peace and tolerance that can break the cycle of conflict, violence, and terror that plague Nigeria. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Imrana plans to continue his work with a focus on advocacy for peace education, employment generation and expansion for vulnerable youth in north-eastern Nigeria.
