Ingrid Watson
Ingrid has worked in the field of mining and sustainable development for over 20 years, most recently at Wits, in the Wits Mining Institute, where she is a senior lecturer and Research Lead for the SATCAP research centre. SATCAP being the Successful Application of Technology Centred Around People. This is a research programme funded by the Department of Science and Innovation and the Minerals Council of South Africa and focusses on understanding how people relate to each other and with technology in the process of mining modernisation. Ingrid also leads work in the Responsible Mining Laboratory, working on issues related to mining and the environment, community development and mine closure. She has experience working in government, corporate, consulting and academic settings. Ingrid has a PhD from Wits, and holds a MPhil in Sustainable Development Planning and Management and an MSc in Environment and Society.
