Innocent Bashungwa

Innocent Bashungwa is Tanzania’s current minister of Industry and Trade, born on  5 March 1979. He attained a Masters degree in International Affairs with a concentration in International Economic Policy and Finance from Columbia University in the City of New York in May 2010. Attained a Bachelor degree in Economics from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, USA in May 2002.

Innocent Bashungwa was elected MP representing Karagwe in 2015. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture by President John Magufuli on 10 November, 2018. On November 13, 2018 he was sworn in as Deputy Minister

The minister Assisted Tanzania- EITI Secretariat in developing a deeper understanding of extractive industries economic, fiscal and taxation analysis. Oversaw annual reconciliation reports on payments by extractive companies and revenue received by Tanzanian government. Currently a  member of national team for mining, oil and gas revenue forecasting, an initiative which is coordinated by Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) on behalf of the Government.
