Isaac TONGOLA

Isaac TONGOLA is the current Executive Director of Fairtrade Africa. He has 20 years of multinational experience in agricultural and agribusiness development and AgTech delivery to farmers. 

Through leading fundraising operations and providing high-level advice to public-private initiatives, multinationals and investors; he has led capital investment deals worth more than USD $160 million. His work has been trans-continental across Africa, Europe, Latin America and Asia. His industry focus is diverse, comprising of inclusive business development, M4P market systems development, impact investment, technological and financial innovation, economic integration, policy analysis, climate adaptation and resilience, agricultural commodities, trade and enterprise development, clean energy, and digitizing climate smart decision agriculture. 

He has an MSc degree in Agricultural development from the University of Copenhagen – Denmark; an MSc degree in Sciences and Technologies from the university of Montpelier SupAgro-IRC – France; and a Bsc degree in Agriculture from Egerton University – Kenya. He undertook partial PhD studies in Political Science and Government from Southern Illinois University Carbondale – USA. He has executive training in strategic planning and investment from IVEY School of Business of the University of Western – Ontario Canada; and Marketing-and-Sales from INSEAD – France. He is a Kenyan.
