James Otieno Odede

James Odede is a Kenyan technologist and entrepreneur with 4 years’ experience in software design and development, with a specific focus on African startups ecosystem for social change. He is the Co-founder and Director of LakeHub, a technology and social innovation hub in Western Kenya that focuses on equipping young people with technology and entrepreneurial skills for job market and social innovation. This is accomplished through a co-working space, training, and talent development. James Otieno Odede has managed to bring together the technology community of Western Kenya through the region’s first co-working space for young entrepreneurs and personally founded two technology startups. James holds a BSc. in Computer Science and Technology from Maseno University and is a Fellow of Acumen East Africa Leadership and YALI East Africa Fellowship Programs. James is passionate about using technology for social change and development through bridging the gaps of technology skills existing in Africa. Upon completion of Mandela Washington Fellowship, James plans to continue his course by a running the LakeHub Academy, an education startup for training holistic software developers and designers in Africa through a two year fellowship program. Afterwards, he will match them with corporations in need of innovative intellectual property to grow their businesses.
