Jayaseelan Manickum Nair holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Unisa (1995) and a National Diploma in Government Finance, Technikon South Africa -now Unisa (2000).

Jayaseelan Manickum Nair was appointed as Acting Accountant General at the Department of National Treasury in October 2015. He is responsible for the following Chief Directorates: Governance, Monitoring & Compliance, Capacity Building, Internal Audit Support, IFMS, Technical Support Services , Accounting Support & Reporting  , Risk Management , Financial Systems , MFMA , Specialised Audit Services.
