Joan Kingszy Aza
Joan Kingszy Aza is a volunteer social worker for over five years, specially focusing on education and elimination of drug proliferation. Kingszy has a degree in French and another in Social Work from the University of Mauritius. Joan Kingszy Aza is completing her master’s in Language Science at Paul Valery Monpellier III University, where she focuses on socio-linguistic and education. After working as a subeditor for six years, Kingszy recently started working as an educator at the secondary level. Kingszy is a member of the NGO Sidatak Tombeau Bay, which fights against drug proliferation. She also helps children in her community to acquire basic literacy and numeracy skills. A member of Leo Club of Port Louis, a socially engaged group, she contributes actively to the betterment of the Mauritian society. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship(Africa), Kingszy plans to continue her work. She also wants to shape and implement major projects in her fields of interests. Coming from a ghetto, Kingszy wants to show other young people from her community that it is possible to realize their dreams and have a better life through education.
