July Ndlovu

July Ndlovu is the CEO of Thungela. He is a miner at heart with over 30 years’ mining experience in different commodities. He oversaw the successful listing of Thungela on the Johannesburg and London Stock Exchanges. He has held the role of Chairman of the World Coal Association since July 2020 and believes that there is a need to craft a responsible pathway for the future of coal. Ndlovu is an active advocate for coal, with a strong belief that coal is part of the energy mix and supporting renewables can be part of the clean transition.

His entrepreneurial passion will undoubtedly fuel his fire to sustain Thungela in the future. Ndlovu demands high standards of output and delivering on commitments, his leadership style is respectful and fair, serving and supporting the people he works with. Ndlovu holds a BSc Engineering (Honours) degree from the University of Zimbabwe as well as a Master of Business Leadership (MBL) degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA).  He has also completed a Senior Executive programme with Columbia Business School, New York.
